Discover the brilliant escape of South Wairarapa, just a short drive from Wellington City you'll find our beautiful region of wine, olive oil, artisan producers, artistic talent, boutique shopping (forget the big malls!), wide open spaces relaxing events and venues. Take time to chill out, walk, bike around the wineries and olive groves, go tramping, head out to the coast to witness first hand the brilliance of Cape Palliser (on a fine day you can see the South Island!) or just spend the weekend relaxing in our picturesque piece of paradise. Saunter around our trio of towns, sip lattes in the winter sunshine, visit Featherston, Greytown, Martinborough - all complementing each other, equally inviting in their own style.

Whats unique about our region? Quite simply we are well known as the ULTIMATE gourmet mecca of New Zealand with wine and food galore (and a local brewery!) to sample and enjoy - this means you need more than just a day trip, seriously, we recommend you plan an entire weekend - arrive Friday and stay until Monday morning. You'll need as much time as you can spare to enjoy the many fruits of our gorgeous corner of the world.

MARTINBOROUGH MANNER - FRIENDLY FARM ANIMALS TO LOVE

Martinborough Manner is a unique working farm you can visit with a family group and experience hands on feeding and loving of the gorgeous farm animals. There are baby goats and bunnies to see this winter, open each weekend of the school holidays - check out their listing here, a must visit - bookings essential!

Boutique shopping is the buzz in our region, you won't find one single shopping mall, that's what makes us unique. So here's the plan - when you cross the Rimutaka's Featherston is the first stop. The famous C'est Cheese is known as one of the finest cheese shops this side of the black stump! Located right next door to the quirky Mr Feathers Den & Sweet Kitchen & Delights - visit these and you're off to a fantastic start, stock up with deli goods, cheese, cheese and more cheese and something sweet.

Then head over to Martinborough, check into your accommodation and take a tour around the vineyards, or just saunter into town and relax at one of our gorgeous cafes. we have bikes to hire, vineyards and olive groves to visit, Martinborough Wine Merchants for the largest range of Wairarapa wines, iconic P&K our local grocer since 1860 for all the supplies you may need (fresh is best!) - plus the newly refurbished General Store. We have some incredible boutique shops, the timeless glamour of Jessicas Living Room, Mint at Martinborough (one of our longest running stores - located on Ohio Street in an old church!), The funky Red Bicycle, beautiful Scarlet on Kitchener street and more.Soak it all up then head over to historic Greytown, the home of Schoc Chocolates, Hall designer fashion, The Lolly Jar and Jayah with Soul fabulous women's wear. Check out the stylish new hub, home of The Gallery at The Hub - by renowned portrait artist Esther Bunning. Take your time, we do things slowly in this neck of the woods, there are many coffees, wines and gourmet foods to be had, many memories to make - all just a short drive away

Imagine a slow picnic lunch while gazing dreamily out to sea - the peacefulness unravelling your worries, you feel grounded in awe of these spectacular scapes.......nature at its most pure. Take a slow drive to Lake Ferry for fish & chips and chat to the locals - perfect end to the day, you're totally refreshed after reconnecting in this pure natural environment.
