Mel is a registered Naturopath and Medical Herbalist with a love for nature’s medicine and helping people reach their best in wellbeing. Mel began her studies in Auckland before relocating to the beautiful Wairarapa, where she went on to complete qualifications via the Naturopathic College of New Zealand.
Martinborough Apothecary was established in 2020 and offers a selection of high-quality natural health products, including Mel’s own unique tisanes. Each tea blend is functional and supports good health - these are teas with a purpose!
Martinborough Apothecary also offers tea accessories, gorgeous aromatherapy bath soaks, Kiwiherb herbal medicines, First Light Flower Essences - which Mel will blend to suit your needs - and practitioner-only supplements upon request.
As a Naturopath, Mel understands how to utilise the body’s own innate ability to rebalance and heal by supporting physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing with complementary medicines. Mel offers holistic health consultations, during which she assesses your presenting concern, health history, diet, lifestyle, and emotional wellbeing. She incorporates medical and naturopathic diagnostics including blood pressure, laboratory test results, iridology, tongue and nail assessments, then creates a personalised Wellness Plan to help you reach your health goals.
Mel has worked with clients aged 6 months to 71 years, presenting with a range of conditions including eczema, arthritis, autoimmune disease, hormone imbalances, addiction, insomnia and anxiety. She is particularly interested in helping improve mental health in our communities. Mel has trained in a variety of modalities including nutrition, herbal medicine, therapeutic massage, flower essence therapy, NZ Homeobotanicals, cell salts, aromatherapy, Rongoā Māori and other traditional healing practices.
Martinborough Apothecary is a pop-up shop, but Mel is here to stay in South Wairarapa. Be sure to drop by whilst she is in the cute premises at Pinot Villas and look out for updates on where to pick up your favourite tisane or book an appointment in the future.
