Wine tasting at Murdoch James Estate & lunch at Bloom restaurant

Murdoch James cellar door

What better activity for a lazy Sunday than wine tasting at gorgeous Murdoch James estate?
We headed out of the village yesterday & ended up exactly there.......what an incredible experience!!

The welcoming reception, the spacious tasting room, the quality wine, conversation & ambience....they have it all, right on our back doorstep, just a short drive from the village along the scenic Dry River Road. This really is a taste of Provençal magic in Martinborough in an international class cellar door with award winning wine just over an hours drive from Wellington city. Open from 11-5 daily for individual tastings or the renowned Murdoch James "grape to glass" tour for a total wine making experience, we recommend you take the time to visit soon.

We chose the fruity 2013 late harvest Pinot Gris & a bottle of Bloom bubbles to take home for our own wine cellar....but there's a good chance it won't last long & then (of course) we'll just have to take another trip out to Murdoch James Estate.

Bloom restaurant at Murdoch James Estate

After our wine tasting experience we were welcomed through to Bloom restaurant where we enjoyed a tranquil lunch on the deck, with stunning views of the Tararuas & expansive grounds at this beautiful venue. The service was supreme & the menu packed with mouthwatering choices, we chose the duck & lamb which were divine, followed by perfectly baked cheesecake with pears & affogato to finish....we'll let the pictures speak for us, let's just say we're already looking forward to our next meal at Bloom.
