Nick Arnold - Cafe Medici

Nick with his WOAP Moby Dick Burger from 2013 ^

Today we had coffee with Nick, owner & head chef at Martinborough's popular Cafe Medici & Nick Arnold catering. Nick's a busy man, so we were stoked to get some of his time, there's a lot on Nick's horizon these days. He's been at Medici 8 years now & the catering aspect of the business is taking off. Weddings, private functions, anniversaries, you name it they deliver. Nick & his team have built a reputation for exceptional food & are highly sought after.

Cafe Medici is a Martinborough institution, serving up a daily menu well known for delicious flavours using quality ingredients. There's a few local favourites here, have you tried the prawn & chorizo linguini? How about the smoked chicken & avocado toasted sandwich with a side of fries.....if you haven't tried the Spanish eggs yet, you're missing out on an iconic dish!

Theres also the daily specials, when we visit Medici we always check this "extra" menu, the steak sandwhich with hand cut chips is a definite fave......as is the seafood chowder. By now you can tell we are Medici regulars & there's a simple reason for that, the food is always delicious, superbly presented, sublime.

But there's so much more going on with Nick Arnold & his team.....read on to find out!

Nick's famous burger - WOAP!

Wellington on a plate is coming up in August & Medici are in yet again! Last year the Medici team took out the winning trophy for the best burger and beer match.
The "Holy Cow" burger, Black Angus patty topped with dry- smoked bacon, Kingsmeade Jack cheese, caramelised onions & craft beer mustard on a sourdough bun & American Brown Ale "Texas Tea" brewed with chilli & pear by Wellington's brewery Garage Project.
Nick says he was thrilled to win, a testament to the Medici team as the competition is run throughout the Greater Wellington region with a total of 60 burgers entered.

Nick & the team are up for it again this year, their burger for WOAP 2015 sounds mouth wateringly delicious!

"Smokey & the Lambit" Lightly smoked Pirinoa Station lamb patty with whipped Kingsmeade goat's cheese and Croft Estate Pinot Noir jelly in a Clareville Bakery pretzel bun, with polenta chips.Matched w Garage Project Hāpi Daze

So why does Nick think "Smokey & the Lambit" is the burger to vote for this year?

"Great flavours, textures and creativity while keeping it an honest kiwi burger, its the whole package"

This years burger menu rolls out & voting starts on 14th August, we've already booked a table - we suggest you do the same, & vote for Nick's burger.

Lets help Nick add another trophy onto the shelf at Medici!
